What is grace?

Posted in Free thoughts by dearestfriend on March 25, 2007

These are few web definitions for grace I found on google:
— elegance and beauty of movement or expression
— seemliness: a sense of propriety and consideration for others
— a disposition to kindness and compassion; “the victor’s grace in treating the vanquished”

Here are some quotes on grace.

“Grace is the love that gives, that loves the unlovely and the unlovable.” -Oswald C. Hoffmann

“I do not at all understand the mystery of grace – only that it meets us where we are but does not leave us where it found us.” -Anne Lamott

“Grace is love that cares and stoops and rescues.” -John R. W. Stott (1921- )

“Grace does not destroy nature, it perfects it.” -Saint Tshomas Aquinas (1225-1274)

“Grace tried is better than grace, and more than grace; it is glory in its infancy” -Samuel Rutherford

“As heat is opposed to cold, and light to darkness, so grace is opposed to sin.” -Thomas Benton Brooks (1608-1680)

I could not find any other quotes on grace. So I thought I would quote myself..

I think Grace is peace inside you, when you feel you are not in best of the conditions and still thankful to some part of the situation. That’s grace.

Grace is also the compassion you show, when you dont have anything left in you to be good.

Grace is the poise with which you fight when you know you dont have much power to win the battle.

Grace is belief in future in face of ugly outcome.

Grace is when someone dear to you tears you apart. And still you feel affection for them

Grace is what parents have, when we shout on them for our senseless demands.

Grace is when you see the light at the end of tunnel.

And last but not the least ..

Grace is thankfulness to god in whichever situation you are.
